Date of Stay August 2, 2012
My husband and I were guests at the Lanikai Studios from August 2-14,
2012. The location was easy to find and just across the street from the
beach. Everything was as listed in the pictures. We had a very quite
studio and a private patio. The property was well maintained and clean.
Could not have asked for more helpful and friendly owner. Shopping and
restraunts were within minutes away. Parking was available and free(off
street) Have already recommended the studio to several friends and would
not hesitate to stay here again the next time we visit Hawaii.

Lanikai Studios Video
One of the funnest things we enjoy at Lanikai Studios is making new friends. One recent friend is Wayde from Waydes World. He is a tour guide with several YouTube videos of hiking trails and other things to do on Oahu that you won't find in travel books, in fact many locals don't even know some of the spots he digs out. One of the best ways to experience a unique Oahu is paying Wayde a visit.
We are excited about his most recent video of our very own rental studios and main house. Have a look from the link below and be sure to check out Wayde's World for great ideas and tours of Oahu.

Our German Guests
Just received this review from C.W. after his stay this past month. We were excited as they were our first dinner guests. Hope to see you again.
I have been coming to Lanikai Studios for several years. I was pleasantly surprised by the recent changes here, of course the weather and beach are always great, but Gary & Mary (new managers) have really gone all out to be accommodating. The rooms are clean, fresh updates to beds, and just an overall good experience. Thanks for the aloha and I hope to return again.
We are still working hard to make improvements to Lanikai Studios, including faster and reliable wifi internet.
Now with new and upgraded router and modem Lanikai Studios has internet that blows most hotel service out of the water, and an extender that ensures all our guest have great wifi service. Our service is secured and a password is available upon check in.

Pillbox Hike
Overlooking Lanikai is a short but steep mountain ridge called Ka Iwi Ridge and atop it is the remnants of two pill-boxes built between WWI and WWII as part of the Island ’s defense system and used to alert shore artillery units of approaching enemy ships.
The view from the pill-boxes is breath taking whether you look to the East at the Mokulua Islands and those willing to get up early enough enjoy a sunrise view out over the ocean and the Mokulua Islands which can be a once in life-time memory. Sunsets are just as amazing for a panoramic view of the Koolau range and Mount Olomana . The hike is considered easy as well as pet and child welcome, but caution should be used as parts are quite steep with loose gravel, during afternoons and summer the hike can also be very dry and hot, please use caution during these times and bring water along with you. The hike to the pillboxes and back down is approximately 2 Km and the entire ridge trail is 5 Km.
The beginning of the hike starts near the Mid Pacific Country Club on Kaelepulu Drive and has ropes to assist with the steep ascent, along the ridge are several wide areas to stop for a rest and enjoy the views. The two pill-boxes can be hiked there and back in 1 to two hours depending how long you spend resting and enjoying the views, but you can also continue past the pill-boxes and follow along the ridge line trail and be sure to keep to the left when it forks to end up at the far end of Laniki neighborhood. Much of this trail is overgrown and will extend your hike to closer to three hours where you will end up on Poopoo Place , and please be mindful not to enter private property.
Reminders for this trail;
- There are no bathroom facilities in the area.
- Bring water and sunscreen.
- User common sense around the steep drop offs, but be mindful of children you might bring.
- While dry loose gravel is usual, after rains the trail is muddy and slippery.
David Chat posted a great set of pics and a post about the hike, you can view it by clicking on the below link.
